Juliaan Lampens (1926) is called a ‘forgotten architect’ in Belgium. In his time he wasn’t really recognised as a great architect. Only connaisseurs knew his work, but lately there is more attention and appreciation (there was even an article in Wallpaper* Magazine in 2010). He is a modernist architect who builds mainly in raw concrete. Building and nature are treated as equals. Lampens wants to boil living in a small community down to its essence, close to nature, in harmony with nature.
